There are a wide range of activities in Donovans:
- Fishing and/or boating on the river – The Glenelg River winds past Donovans. There is a landing on the rivers edge perfectly set up for fishing, with nearby boat ramp, BBQ and toilets.
- Community Hall activities – every Friday night from 6pm the local community meets at the Community Hall on Atkin street for casual social evening. Bring a plate of food to share and beverages. There are also regular events held in the hall for special occasions. Check out the whats on page to see what special events are coming up.
- River viewing platform – Just north of town there is a viewing platform with a great view of the shacks lining the river and the Lower Glenelg National Park. There is a car park opposite the entrance to the lookout (on the left).
- Dry Creek walking trails – There are some great historic trails just north of Donovans, winding through mossy forests full of wildlife. For further information and maps go to https://www.forestrysa.com.au/visit-our-forests/green-triangle-forest/dry-creek-trails/
- Oval and playground – In the middle of town there is a children’s playground and oval with a BBQ and wheelchair accessible toilets.
There are no local shops, but there are 2 public toilets, one in the middle of town next to the CFS shed (wheelchair accessible), and one down at the landing.

The closest fuel and pub are in Nelson, just over the border in Victoria (10km away).
